Macdonald Duck Eclair fits into the pico pico category of Japanese pop, along with groups such as Capsule, Plus-Tech Squeeze Box, and Strawberry Machine.  Based in Tokyo, the group has been together since 1999, and their sound combines electronic elements with French pops style vocals, noisy guitars with poppy keyboard melodies.  The group consists of three members - Michi, Yuki Shimamura, and Toyomu Futamata, and are on the Usagi Chang Records imprint alongside acts including YMCK and Miss Wonda.  Macdonald Duck Eclair began to gain popularity when their high energy first single "Mac Teenage Riot" - a nod to the group Atari Teenage Riot - appeared on the Usagi Chang Records sampler, Killer Killer Usagi Chang in 2003.  Their first album Short Short was released in 2004, and their second, The Genesis Songbook, in 2005.  The group collaborated with Valvola, Kylie Minogue, Iggy Pop, and Hong Kong Counterfeit among others to create the electroclash and disco album The Electronic Tomato, released in 2004 on Shado records.
