Yoshio Akeboshi, more commonly known as Akeboshi, is a Japanese pop and folk singer mainly known for the song "Wind", which was the first opening for the TV anime series Naruto.  Akeboshi began studying classical piano when he was three years old, later adding the guitar to his repertoire. When Akeboshi was thirteen, he started performing music out, playing guitar in a hardcore band, and taking vocal duties in another band which did covers of oldies.    he graduated from highshool in 1999, at which time he relocated to Liverpool, studying at The Livepool Institute for Performing Arts.  During his stay in the UK he became enamored of club music, and formed the band Sofaking, honing his chops for a Japan debut.  In 2000, he played piano on Takako Matsu's "Yasashii kaze", marking his first real entry into professional music.  In 2002 he released the mini-album Stoned Town, which contained the abovementioned "Wind".  Despite being an independent release, the song hit #31 on the Oricon charts, staying there for 25 weeks and eventually selling over 100,000 copies.  Akeboshi continues to write, play, produce, and collaborate on music, and has become a major star on the Japanese music scene.
