Launched January 1, 2005, Nippop is the work of a small group of contributors connected to the Japanese music industry in various capacities.
Although the site is new, the idea behind it is not. Unbeknownst to each other, over the last few years we had each been kicking around the idea of creating a channel to provide comprehensive information in English on the Japanese music scene, starting with the artists themselves. Although many channels existed, and continue to multiply, we still felt there was a need that needed to be addressed . The universal acceptance of the Internet coupled with a worldwide groundswell of Japanese pop culture awareness made now the obvious time to turn the ideas into reality.
The purpose of Nippop is simple - to be the world's best English language resource on Japanese music. In order to achieve this, we are constantly adding new artist profiles, articles, and other useful information about the industry - all available to individuals for free. Nippop will grow rapidly over the coming years, becoming increasingly more varied and comprehensive.
